Comparing Costs

Cost is one of the largest, if not THE biggest factor in deciding on senior living options. When considering a change to an independent or assisted living environment, it is important to remember that living at home is not free. Many families become discouraged when faced with an estimated monthly cost on paper. These estimates need to be viewed in comparison to the known costs of owning and maintaining one's own residence. This would, of course, include any modifications that need to be made to ensure the home is safe and accommodating to the aging owner as well as the cost of adding a home care agency. In many cases, the cost of independent or assisted living is less than that of remaining in one's own home. Everyone's situation is different which is why each decision needs to be made on a case-by-case basis.
